Cania Gorge, Qld

Inland from Bundaberg and about 6 hours drive north or 500km from Brisbane you will find Cania Gorge. The turn off from the Burnett Highway is about 11km north-west of Monto.

See & Do

This place is something special with its walking trails, views, clean air and little to no mobile phone reception :-). The nearby Cania Dam is ideal for picnics, fishing, kayaking and canoeing.

Caravan Parks & Camping

There are two caravan parks, the Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat, and the Cania Gorge Caravan & Tourist Park. We have stayed at both and would definitely stay at either one again.

The Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat is a Top Tourist Parks member and is much closer to the main walking trails. This well-maintained park has a really nice feel about it with the gorge walls on either side of the park.  Unfortunately for some, there is little to no TV reception unless you have satellite TV, and there is no mobile phone service. The park features a good camp kitchen, two swimming pools and bird feeding in the afternoon. Campfires are allowed and there also is a larger community camp fire. Pets are allowed.

The Cania Gorge Caravan & Tourist Park is a Big 4 member and is closest to the Cania Dam. This one is a bit more children friendly with jumping pillows, three swimming pools, and water park. They also do family movie nights. Other features include afternoon bird feeding, tennis court and a tiny nine-hole golf course. Camp fires are allowed. Only small lap dogs are allowed on application and only at certain times of the year. There is Telstra mobile phone reception.

Nearby

Day trips from here could include Monto and if you have a 4WD a full day trip to Kroombit Tops and the Beautiful Betsy plane crash site.
